WHEN THE CANVAS
IS BLANK, IT TAKES JUST A DREAM TO MAKE MY
HAND FOLLOW …
Suite in which María Izquierdo’s naive
paintings merge with a palette that reminds
us of the sky shades at sunrise and at
sunset. Exactly as she dreamed and amid
circus performers, hens and horses, the
paintings of the Mexican María Izquierdo
take us to a world where characters and
their dimensions allow us to take our shoes
off and walk over the red sand of thick
brushstrokes done by a hand affected by
arthritis but willing to keep on painting.
